Every piece of wood has a story.

It’s the craftsman’s job to uncover it.

  • Built to last generations

  • This table carries the warmth of Douglas Fir

  • and the strength of blackened steel

  • This piece is more than furniture.

  • It’s an invitation

  • to slow down

  • Be present

  • And listen

I wasn’t planning on building a table.

But it wouldn’t leave me alone. It followed me into sleep, knocking at my mind, showing up when I wasn’t even thinking about it. A table. A table. A table.

At some point, I just gave in. I stopped trying to figure out why and just started building. And the second my hands touched the wood, something shifted. The grain, the knots, the weight of it—all of it started working on me as much as I was working on it.

And then, the words came.

I didn’t plan to write a book, either. But the wood got into me, and I couldn’t stop it. The silence of sanding, the patience of shaping, the quiet presence of the work—it changed me. The book started bubbling up, and suddenly, I wasn’t just building a table anymore.

Now, they belong together.

This table, this book, this whole process—it’s all the same thing. It’s about craft, presence, and learning to listen to what’s already there.

Some tables are just furniture.

This one is alive—rooted in history,

charged with presence,

holding a quiet kind of grounding.

If you feel it, you feel it.

  • D I M E N S I O N S | 60” L × 16.5” W × 30” H

  • M A T E R I A L S | Douglas Fir (legs & frame), Pine (shelving)

  • A C C E N T S | Wrought-head decorative rose-head antique nails, ½” and ¼” lag screws (painted with a black-metalled matte finish)

  • J O I N E R Y | Hidden pocket-hole screws (Kreg Jig method) for a seamless, strong build

  • F I N I S H | Sanded to 220 grit, pre-treated with wood conditioner, stained in walnut gel stain, and sealed with matte polyurethane for durability and scratch resistance

  • This isn’t just a table—it’s a story in wood. A one-of-a-kind, handcrafted piece meant to last for generations, built with intention, patience, and soul.

  • I carefully selected each piece of wood for its knots and grain patterns, letting the natural beauty of Douglas Fir and Pine guide the process. Every joint was secured using hidden pocket-hole screws, ensuring a seamless, strong foundation.

  • The accents—wrought-head decorative rosehead nails and black-metalled lag screws—were hand-painted in a matte black metalled finish, adding a touch of rugged elegance and timeless strength.

  • I sanded the table by hand, moving from 80 to 120 to 220 grit, feeling the wood transform under my hands. I applied a pre-stain conditioner before layering on a rich walnut gel stain, then sealed it with a matte polyurethane finish—ensuring that this table isn’t just beautiful, but strong enough to withstand years of use, scratches, and stories told around it.

This table and its story are part of the same conversation.

If it speaks to you, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
